In late 2014, Funko produced the ReAction toyline, featuring a wide range of licenses from movies and TV series new and old with the idea of recreating the look and feel of old Mego and Kenner licensed media toys. Among the different series licensed, the Terminator franchise is represented by a slew of figures. The figures are in the common 3 ¾ inch/ 1:18 scale, with 5 points of articulation and on some figures a weapon or accessory.
While fan opinions are mixed on them, in general they
weren’t very bad. They do try (sometime a little too hard) to mimic the style
of figures from Kenner like the original Star Wars figures or Mego’s Love Boat
figures. The paint is okay, though the plastic is somewhat cheap feeling on
some figures.
However, they shine in the character selection for the
Terminator and T2 assortments. Practically every character you would want is
represented, and most feature the parts they need. The chrome T-800 is extremely
nice, but is of course is extremely fragile, as one might expect from a chrome
coated action figure. Likewise, this is the first time Sarah Connor has been represented as an action figure. Kudos for that!
In terms of the packaging, all of the ReAction figures mimic classic Kenner Star Wars packaging with a card back that (in most cases) features character art with the figure and accessory in a blister bubble. Oddly enough, the figures that correspond to the first Terminator movie have cards that feature the standard art piece of T-800 Arnie. The T2 figures on the other hand have unique card backs that feature a screencap of character from the movie. As collectables, unique art is preferable since a collector might just display these sealed. However, for collectors who open there figures for display in cases or for use in a dio, the first movie figures are perfect for opening.
